what do you fight for?

i was never that into video games, but i do remember spending mindless hours playing skifree in junior high. that is a thousand times sorrier than most games which actually involve strategy and more intensive finger movements! also dozens of hours a week sinking into fantasy books with castles & kingdoms & battles ...

so many of us are captured by these subversive forms of "entertainment" and don't even know we are turning into dull blobs, until reality slaps us unexpectedly or someone comes right out and SAYS it.

it is not that all (or specific) forms of leisure are not to be enjoyed. but we are so often lulled into believing there is no real war going on, and therefore we lavish our energies on satisfying ourselves ... or fighting for things that will satisfy ourselves... and that is all.

oh, i have been there and how i need this wake-up call, even now...

You fight differently
when you fight for the ones you love,
a Kingdom,
and a King.
